Double wedding ring

Sorry about the terrible colour in these pics, I couldn't manage a close up with the right colours.  Obviously I can't use my camera properly.

Anyway this beauty was made by Marg for a family wedding. It is pieced both by hand and machine and hasn't she done a great job?

It is quilted both freehand and on the Statler.  The freehand is the SID and the continuous curve in the rings.

In the navy sections I used 2 designs - the large design is by Anne Bright and is called dwr trellis vines; I'm not sure who designed the smaller pattern but it is a small circle design which fills the space perfectly.

I used charcoal wadding in this quilt because it is so dark.  The backing is a tie dye navy blue with hints of purple and pink in it.

Magnolia

This beauty is a design by Sue Spargo called Magnolia, beautifully made by Maryanne.

It is made using a combination of wools, velvet and cotton fabrics, embellished with intricate stiching and beads.

I quilted it freehand using a ruler for the outside border, and freehanded the fills and wiggly lines.

I am currently making the 2012 BOM with Sue Spargo, so this has inspired me to get a wriggle on with mine....maybe it might be something I get finished this year!!

Stars and more stars...

This beauty was made by Karen,  and isn't it a beauty.  It is an Anni Downs design from her "A Boy's Story" book.

It is quilted with a combination of freehand and ruler work on the Gammill Classic, and then some computerised work on the Statler.

I have used design from Keryn Emmerson (the feathered wreath), and in the pieced blocks (holdfast block 1).  The centre hatching design is from The Quilter's Quilter.  The outside border and stars and loops in the centre are freehand.

The back.
Sometimes the backs can look as good as the fronts and I make a big effort to make sure that the back is very presentable <G>.

Its cold and rainy here today, I'm off to the gym and then to work.  Perfect day for sewing.

Enjoy,

Asian hexies...

This beauty was made by Deidre, and is technically a hexie quilt, but not English paper pieced.  Instead Deidre has machine stitched all the little borders around the hexie shaped Asian fabrics, and then machine pieced them all together.  Its a labour of love and took her AGES....

It is quilted with SID around each of the hexies in a blending thread, and then the  statler has very cleverly stitched a little wavy line along each of the seams between the hexie blocks.

The outside border has 2 designs - one called Rising Steam and Fishing Net by Legacy Quilting designs, and the floral design called Japanese Tri 001 by Kim Diamond.

On a different note, this was our wisteria 3 weeks ago....

Today in full bloom.  Glorious, and with a lovely scent and lots of buzzing bees.

Lots of feathers again....

This is the back of the quilt which has just come off the machine.  It belongs to Mary, and is a design by Karen Cunningham, a quilt design published in Quilters' Companion, Issue 27, called Turkey Tracks.

And, this is the front....

It is quilted freehand with the use of rulers, and has lots of feathers, fill and SID.
